This summer, Killer B3 screened at the 15th Annual San Francisco Black Film Festival (SFBFF). What a great experience.

The SFBFF is held at several venues in and near San Francisco's artistic rich Filmore District. We just read an article that said, less than 5% of all films entered in film festivals are actually accepted. Needless to say, we are honored to screen at any venue.
Killer B3 screened at the Boom Boom Room, a really cool and eclectic music club a stones throw from the historic Filmore Theater. The Boom Boom Room used to be owned by blues legend, Johnny Lee Hooker. The bar is one of few clubs anywhere that has a Hammond B3 Organ permanently on site. Bands love it! Now, they don't have to lug their Hammond to the gig.
A lot of cool things happened during the SFBFF. First, we won our first festival award. Yep, Killer B3 is officially an award-winning film. Killer B3 was awarded Honorary Mention for Best Documentary. We didn't win the top spot, but we are proud to have the film recognized for being one of the best in the fest.
You would think, as producer of Killer B3, we probably have met everybody featured in the documentary. Not true. Pete Fallico is someone who has helped us immensely with the production of Killer B3. In fact, Pete has been invaluable. After eight years of working on Killer B3, we had never met Pete. Pete's interview was shot as a favor by my long time friend, Stan Pechner. Stan lives in the S.F. Bay area and so does Pete.
Needless to say, I was excited to meet Pete at the SFBFF screening. Pete said the film was incredible. He said he was really impressed with everything, especially the editing around all the music featured in the film. He also said we nailed it by paying such great detail to Jimmy Smith's contribution to the Hammond sound.
Since October, Killer B3 has been selected to three film festivals. In March, we made our world debut in our own backyard at the Gasparilla International Film Festival (GIFF) in Tampa, Florida. GIFF was recently voted one of the top 25 film festivals worth attending by Moviemaker Magazine.
SFBFF is held in the incredible Filmore District of S.F. What a cool place. It's so filled with the artistic vibe. You've got the Filmore Theater. There's Yoshi's Sushi and Jazz Club. There is also tons of great food venues on Filmore. One of our popular Killer B3 stickers is hopefully a permanent fixture on the back stage door at the Filmore.
Killer B3 was screened at Johnny Lee Hooker's former blues club, the Boom Boom Room. Organizers thought it was a perfect spot to screen because the club has a great history with the Hammond organ. The club has an in-house Hammond B3 so traveling musicians don't have to lug theirs to the club.
The Killer B3 Band showed its stuff at Skippers Smokehouse in Tampa, FL in October. The hand picked band performed its second live show in less than a month to help raise awareness and funds for Killer B3.
Who knew producing a documentary would lead to promoting a live concert. In an effort to spread the word and raise cash, we figured it couldn't hurt to host a concert featuring the Hammond organ sound. Anchored by organist Shawn Brown, the KB3 band features some of Tampa's top musicians.

The Band made its debut in September 2012 at the Palladium's Sidedoor in St. Petersburg, FL. With limited marketing, and on a shoestring of a budget, the show was almost a sellout. Fans were treated to nearly three and a half hours of music.
We also gave fans a sneak peak at the documentary. Just before the band played, we also debuted our theatrical trailer for the film. It's a power packed three minutes that really captures the energy of why the Hammond Organ sound is unmistakable.

The hope is to put on a live show every one or two months. There is no better way to introduce people to the beauty of this instrument and its sound.
If you love music, you will love Killer B3. Sure, the story is centered around the sound of Hammond organs and the contribution of its players, but when it's all said and done, music and passion take center stage in Killer B3.
We have been fortunate. Over the past six years of shooting Killer B3, we have been up close with some of the greatest organ players ever. But, the musicians playing the backup role are monsters of music too.

Blues based guitarist Willie Lomax of Lutz, Florida has a soulful, blues based sound. Willie has actually has helped us a bunch over the years in getting this film done. We will be loading some clips of him playing at some point.
We used his studio to shoot one of our first promo videos for Killer B3. It's a pretty cool video. The video features organist Shawn Brown gettin' down on some swinging blues. A small space, we lit it fairly loose. We wanted to conceal the player and push the focus towards the sound of the organ and the passion of its player. In the beginning, we didn't know a lot about Hammond organs. I remember we were leery about Shawn playing an organ that wasn't a B3. We later learned, the core Hammond sound is the same in many models. Only true die hard of organ enthusiast might notice the organ Shawn was playing wasn't a sporty B3.
Our first road trip out of Florida took us to Columbus, Ohio. We were treated to the blazing Hammond B3 sound of Tony Monaco. We were really blown away to find that Tony learned to play the Hammond by playing the accordion. He actually showed Jimmy Smith, Jr. how he played his dad's songs on the electronic box.

Tony's trio is fueled by drummer Louis Tsamous and guitarist Robert Kraut. Both are amazing musicians. Amazingly, they match Tony's incredible musical energy .

Robert Kraut is amazing. He is melodic in his chords and soloing. When he is not making amazing music, Kraut teaches psychology. I remember before we started shooting Tony's show, Robert requested we keep our distance while he played. I didn't get that close to him during the concert, but Joe really got in Robert's grill for some shots. Lol. Kraut was so in the moment as he played, I don't think he even noticed.
One of the more traveled musician who caught our eye during production was percussionist, Walfredo Reyes, Jr. Walfredo has toured with Santana, Steve Winwood and too many other music greats to name. During our visit to Club Smoke in New York, we knew we were going to see legends like, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Jimmy McGriff and Reuben Wilson. So far, we have traveled to just shy of a dozen
cities. To start the new year, we headed to Scottsdale, Arizona. There, Joey DeFrancesco and his organ playing dad graciously opened their homes, archive of photos, and personal memories to us.

Getting to Scottsdale started out as a cold journey. Before leaving Tampa, the ground crew at Southwest Airlines had to de-ice the plane. No joke! I don't know how cold it got that morning, but it was cold enough for us to scrape frost from the car with a spatchula. Don't judge. When we get frost in Florida, we scrape with whatever flips our eggs best.
We spent about two days in Scottsdale. I have been to the area a bunch of times, Joe hasn't been since he was a kid. We both were blown away with the lay of the land. First, we couldn't help but notice the mountains. They are not big, but distinctive. We felt like we were on the set of a John Wayne movie.
After checking in to the hotel, we made it to Joey DeFrancesco's house around three o'clock in the afternoon. With a hug and a smile, Joey greeted and treated us like family. Our first stop, his garage. There he has enough Hammond organs for a starting basketball team spread around in what he said will one day be his studio. He has a bunch of Leslie Speakers too. A couple of them were passed down to him from the late great Jimmy Smith, Sr.

Of all the Hammond organs Joey has, one in particular is breathtaking. It is probably why he has it sitting in his living room, just steps from the front door.

Joe DeFrancesco plays his rare Blonde B3

Joey has a Corina Blonde B3. Yep, that's right, a Blonde B3. We had never heard of one. I guess out of the couple hundred of thousands of B3's made, less than a hundred were Corina Blonde. In all his time around Hammond organs, Joey told us, he has only seen three Blonde B3's. While Hammond made plenty of other model organs in Corina Blonde, they were very selective about building B3's with this look.

Golden in color, it is obvious why this rare beauty is called a Blonde B3. Joey said, back in 50's, Hammond used to leave some organs unfinished to accommodate any custom orders. It was not an advertised style available to just anyone. You had to be special, and you had to have some extra bucks. Joey said his Blonde B3 is by far his favorite of his Hammond organs to play.
Walking around Joey's home is like a journey through a musical museum. There aren't many people that have a trumpet passed down from Miles Davis. And if that's not enough, he also has several organs and Leslie Speakers passed down from Jimmy Smith, his mentor and friend.

Joey was hand picked by Miles Davis to join his band at the age of 17. He proudly showed us a horn Miles gave him with his signature bent mouth piece. The horn sits proudly in a nook near Joey's living room. Joey said, Miles was his inspiration to start playing the trumpet. Today, Joey routinely plays the trumpet during many of his gigs.

On day two of of shoot, we spent time with Pappa John DeFrancesco. Pappa John has a great history on the Hammond too. Just hours before our flight back to Tampa, we had just enough time to visit him at his home in nearby Maricopa, Arizona.

At 71, Pappa John is still recording great music. We were listening to his 2010 CD, A Philadelphia Story, in the truck.

Pappa John and his wife of 50 years, Lorene were so gracious to us. Pappa John told us how his son Joey's name became synonymous with organ music. Simply put, he said Joey would practice Jimmy Smith's music all day and everyday. What ever Joey heard, he could play it. As a kid, the only way to punish Joey was to stop him from playing the organ, he said.

During our more than 3 hour conversation, Pappa John told some great stories about Joey, the organ and the music legends they have brushed elbows with. Surprisingly, Pappa John doesn't take much credit for Joey's talents. He said, Joey did all the work himself.

Pappa John DeFrancesco tells us candid stories about his son, Joey and other organ greats

Two stories really stick out. First, the story of what 7 year old Joey did to meet Jimmy Smith, Sr. for the first time. Both father and son remember it well.

When Joey was 7, he found a phone number to the Jimmy Smith Supper Club. It wasn't hard, the number was printed directly on a the cover of a Jimmy Smith album as part of the artwork.

Disguising his voice, Joey not only called the number, but he left a name and number on the answering machine. Young Joey didn't leave his name, instead he said he was Stanley Turrentine. Yep, the 7 year old passed himself off as the saxophone great.

Perplexed and flattered by the call, Jimmy Smith returned "Stanley Turrentine's" message. Lol. Joey D and Jimmy Smith eventually became musical collaborators and close friends till Jimmy's death in February of 2006.

The other story that had us cracking up was when Pappa John talked about one night he had to load his organ on stage for a gig. Of course, he had to load it up a steep staircase. Every organ player has a story like this, but Pappa John's story was uniquely funny.

Keep in mind, a B3 weighs every bit of 400 pounds. Using skills that rival McGyver, Poppa John said he and the band had a plan.

Pappa John DeFrancesco sits and talks with us at him home in Maricopa, Arizona

One musician tied a rope around the B3's sporty legs. While Pappa John is saying this, me and Joe were already laughing. Lol. I'm laughing now just thinking about it again. Lol.

Pappa John and another musician figured they would push the organ, while the other musician pulled. Suddenly, the musician pulling said he couldn't hold the rope any longer. Both Pappa John and the other band member had no choice, they took off running down the steps. I imagine a scene like the one in Indiana Jones, where Indiana Jones was chased from a cave by a giant boulder.

Pappa John and his band mate were quickly followed by the barreling organ. He said the organ was popping light fixtures as it made its way toward the bottom of the stairs. They barely got out of the way, Pappa John said. He said the organ flipped end over end before coming to rest. They changed out some broken tubes and clicked the organ to the on position. Believe it or not, It worked. The organ fired up! They performed the gig as scheduled. But he said, they were docked pay for each of the light fixtures they took out. He said he told the owner of the club to get an elevator.

After our talk, Poppa John treated us to a little of his playing. Man, he knows how to swing that organ!

Big thanks to the DeFrancesco's for making our trip to the Phoenix area so great.
If you haven't noticed, a Hammond B3 organist has a lot going on when he plays. One foot works the volume pedal, the other works the 25 foot pedals. Up top, both hands go back and forth between the two keyboards, and they toggle between a row of 36 sliding drawbars as they flip the Leslie Speaker into action. If he's singing, the B3 player is running his mouth too.
How and the hell do you capture all the action going on when a B3 player is going full throttle? We knew we would need more than one or two cameras, and we knew it would take some creativity.

Joe ended up creating some real cool systems to capture the B3 being worked.

Shawn Brown: Shawn doodles around during shoot at WEDU-TV, Tampa FL. You may notice, Shawn's wearing sweatpants. He wasn't supposed to be on camera during this shoot. The music was so tasty, we ended up using some of it as a sound bed in the film.

In our shoot with Shawn Brown, Joe actually mounted a camera at the bottom of the organ to capture Shawn working the foot pedals. Because it was kind of shady down there, Joe also mounted a florescent light beneath the organ. When Shawn plays bass pedals, he likes to do it shoeless.

He actually complained, the florescent light was making his foot hot. Lol! Sorry, I just wish you could hear him complaining about it. There is no crying in playing the B3! Honestly, we appreciate "Ole Hot Foot" weathering the heat for us.

Joe also created a really cool mounting system to show an overhead view of the B3 being brought to life. The system allowed us to hang a camera above the organists head. It turned out to look really nice.

In some scenes, we actually had six cameras pointed at the action on the B3. We really wanted to give viewers a better sense of what it takes to play a B3.

We didn't just have the challenge of capturing shots of the organ, we had to get the other musicians in the band in action too.

Tom Leobold mounted a small camera above drummer Walfredo Reyes, Jr. Walfredo plays with Steve Winwood, Carlos Santana and too many others to name. The day of our shoot, he was playing with Shawn Brown and Guitarist, Wille Lomax in Tampa, FL.
Oddly enough, we ended up not even using the overhead shot of Walfredo in the body of Killer B3. We are thinking about putting together a DVD of all the music from the film. Perhaps we will use the shots then.

Walfredo Reyes, Jr. plays: Angle from up above as Walfreydo Reyes, Jr. plays with Shawn Brown.

One tool that really came in handy for us, the Glide Cam. A Glide Cam is like a floating tripod for your camera. After balancing a few weights around, It allows you to be on the move, while keeping your camera angle smooth.

In motion pictures, you usually see a Glide Cam used in foot chase scenes. Sometimes you will see them used to simulate an actors point of view. How can you tell? All you have to do is look at the horizon or top of your screen. A Glide Cam provides a smooth look at action while on the move. Is the camera giggling up and down? Is the horizon of the shot smooth and steady? A smooth shot usually means a Glide Cam or some other stabilization system was used.

Joe used a Glide Cam to shoot the Tony Monaco concert at Park Street Tavern in Columbus, Ohio. In the film, you will notice it during some of the smooth moving shots of Tony playing the organ.

It was used even more to capture Guitarist Robert Kraut. Unfortunately, none of those shots made the cut in the film. I guess look for them on the DVD when Killer B3 the Music gets released.
From what we have read, a movie trailer can can make or break the buzz created about your film. We have shot more than eighty hours of video over the five years we have been working Killer B3, and somehow, we still have one more shoot, which just came up.

We have been done with the rough cut of the film for a few months now. Still, there is so many things that need to be tweaked, not too mention getting the proper clearance for photos and videos used in the film.

While our extended trailer is getting a lot of great buzz, it's way too long to use as a theatrical trailer. You've seen theatrical trailers, they are the previews you see before your movie begins when you go to a movie theater.

The idea with a great trailer is to pull the best and most exciting pieces out of your movie and highlight them. It has to be captivating, fast paced, story oriented and a lot of other things we are still learning. Bottom line, the movie trailer should make you want to see the movie without taking more than it takes to heat up a Hot Pocket.

We are about half done with the process. In Hollywood, they hire specific editors to do movie trailers. In Tampa, when you are just a team of two, you create it in your underwear while watching Jerry Springer and snacking on Cheetoh's.

Capturing the story of the B3 and its players on camera is an incredibly gratifying experience. When it is all said and done, watching this documentary gives us an chance to relive the passion of each artist. We have been amazed to find, when taken with a creative eye, still photos boil with the same level of passion.
Early on, I read that many filmmakers regretted not taking more photographs during the production of their films. Sure, these days you can make a still from video, but those images don't always enlarge with the same level of quality. We knew good promotional photos would play a key role in how we could eventually promote Killer B3. So, it was important to have stills that captured the excitement in the same way we experienced.

We went to Columbus, Ohio for our first out of town shoot. There we captured the always expressive, Tony Monaco. You will never see a more expressive organist than Tony Monaco. Tony wears the passion of playing on his face, and through his body.
Joe and I both worked camera during the Tony Monaco shoot at Park Street Tavern. It would have been tough to shoot stills and video. What were we going to do?

At the end of Tony's concert, we were pleasantly surprised someone had shot still photos all along. Michael Ivey had shot dozens of incredible photos during Tony's show. Mike was a friend of a friend who shares the passion for organ music and still photography. I had never met him, but we did communicate via email after a web introduction from our mutual friend, motivational speaker Greg Smith.
Turns out, Michael Ivey wasn't just a hack photographer, he is an accomplished media professional, who shoots big time TV commercials on film and video. Somewhere in there, he finds time to take still pictures too.

We were lucky. Mike's photos exude so much passion. With the click of a button, he captured the spirit of Tony's performance, and the other musicians in Tony's band. If all artistic types supported each other through service, like Mike Ivey did for us, so many more cool projects could be put out there. I mean, this guy just showed up and started shooting. The only thing he asked for was the proper courtesy credit for his photos. Nice job Mike. Thank you so much for helping us.
Me and Joe ended up taking some photos of our own. I shot some of Shawn Brown during a show in New Port Richey, Florida. While I got some nice moments, my ratio of good photo's too bad ones was pretty low. That's why I have low standards and a high success rate.
Well, I feel like we have turned this blog into myspace. I mean, we started off with great intentions, and then we just kind of let things sit for awhile. Trust me, this wasn't our intention.

We started working on Killer B3 almost six years ago. We had no idea how much work it would take to get this puppy up and going.

Somehow, 84 hours of tape, almost six years of time and all of our savings later, we have made it to post production. Yep, the film is actually done. We are just tweaking some things, and we're going through the tedious and expensive process of clearing music and photos used in Killer B3. Here is a link to our extended trailer. A theatrical version will be coming soon.

Joe and I are really sorry we abandoned the handful of people who have been tracking this project. Most of you probably have been getting updates from talking to us, or from our post on Facebook. Yep, we've got a like page on Facebook now. You can find it by clicking Here.

I probably should have written about this, but our website has been up and running now since this past summer. Just go to www.killerb3.com Also just yesterday, we went live with our youtube channel, which will eventually feature lots of content you won't see until the documentary is released.

So far, we have applied to five film festivals. We had to back off submissions for a few reasons. First, it's expensive. Secondly, we need to raise funds to help offset the cost. You will be the first, well, the third to know when we get our first festival invite. now that the film is mostly done, things are starting to really get exciting.

I will make this commitment to you the people, I will do my best to update this blog at least once a week, or as often as we have something new to report about our progress. Truth of the matter, we just have so few resources, and so few time, we find ourselves doing everything. But, building a relationship with our audience is simply a must that will happen on the regular.

In fact, the next blog I write will be about how we were able to get this feature length film written while I worked from a cruise ship. You ever wonder how long it takes to edit a hour and fifteen minute documentary? I will write about it next week. In fact, I'm going to try and update this blog at least two times week. It's fun and therapeutic to write, and it's just cool to keep everybody in the loop.

Thanks for keeping up with us.

Best,
Murv & Joe

Anyway, three years ago, Joe and I started our journey into the world of B3 music. The idea for Killer B3 literally started after seeing B3 sensation Shawn Brown at a small smoke filled bar outside Tampa Florida.

I have always been a big fan of music. Before watching Shawn Brown play in person, I really hadn't thought much about the organ or B3 music.

After only a few minutes of hearing Shawn on the Hammond Organ, I felt something. The sound of that C3 was getting all the way down to my bones. Every touch brought emotion. Everybody listening could feel it.

I wanted Joe to see it for himself. I ended up recording a few minutes on a small 4 meg camera designed for still photos. I've saved it for almost four years to remind us of how Killer B3 started. I was trying to find it on my computer. I'll post it once I find it.

One of the first B3 legends we wanted to sit down with was Dr. Lonnie Smith. Not knowing if Dr. Lonnie would make time for us, we just started sending emails and putting the word out to his camp. For various reasons, the time was never right for Dr. Lonnie.

We were lucky enough to meet him at a B3 summit Valentines day week in New York City in 2007. While we were able to tape Dr. Lonnie's performance, he wasn't feeling well enough for an interview.

Two weeks ago, Joe and I drove to Ft. Lauderdale Florida to meet the good Doctor. We didn't know what to expect. We didn't even know if he would have an organ inside his Florida home.

We knocked on the door. Dr. Lonnie answered jokingly with a fork in his hand, as if he was protecting his home. We were only planning on taking up an hour of his time, we ended up spending all afternoon with him.

Our concerns about whether an organ would be present quickly went away. We saw a B3 in almost every room. Some rooms had several B3 Who knows what he had stuffed in the closets.

We can't wait to share the Dr. Lonnie experience with you. We talked about music, passion, aging, life and the future of the B3 and organ music. At one point the good Doctor stood at the foot of his bed and started passionately playing a nearby B3. It was magic.

This summer we plan to wrap up shooting for Killer B3. There's a good chance we may do some shooting in Italy. We just have a few more elements to capture.

We've come a long way, especially for two guys who started this journey with a blank slate.

We hope to have a website up and runing in the next two months. Meanwhile, if you're still hanging on, check us out on myspace. Hell, why hot become our friend. Like Killer B3 on facebook too.

We are finally in the homestretch of shooting for "Killer B3." It has been almost three years since we began this project. Talk about a lot of work.

We knocked out one of our bigger shoots on Easter Sunday. If you are a fan of the B3, you understand that gospel music is a big part of the instruments success. Joe and I spent Easter Sunday at church in St. Petersburg, Florida shooting Shawn Brown work his magic.

Since we are funding "Killer B3" from our own pockets, this was kind of a down and dirty shoot. We didn't compromise quality, we just got creative in getting the job done. We used four cameras and decided to go with only one camera operator. Yeah, just one camera operator.

We figured it was best if Joe worked a roaming camera and we could set several other cameras in fixed positions. Our friend Peggy was nice enough to come out and work sound for us. We love Peggy!

We did a two hour scout of the church on Saturday and spent another two hours prepping everything before the Sunday service. This turned out to be a great idea because this particular church shares its space with several other congregations throughout the day.

The service was just over an hour long and it turned out to be a very special shoot. First, it was just great to be in church on Easter Sunday. Second, Joe's family came to the service. They have come to several of our larger shoots. I think it is safe to say they have become huge fans of the Hammond B3 Organ and "Killer B3."

Joe and Peggy did most of the work on this shoot. I spent most of my time enjoying the service. It's amazing how Shawn and his playing of the B3 Organ took an already spiritual event to a completely new level. People were worshiping aloud, raising their hands and tapping on tambourines. The choir wasn't large, but they were mighty. The B3 is the perfect instrument to compliment their sound.

At one point during the middle of the service, Joe and I whispered to one another that this was the best shoot we had done so far. We both really connected to all the emotion expressed by the people. It was clear that the B3 was playing a huge role in helping people connect with their faith. In fact, Pastor Mike told us he specifically brought in the Hammond Organ from his old church because he enjoys the sound so much more than an electronic keyboard.

By far the best part of the day was after the shoot. That's when me Shawn, Joe and Joe's family all went out for Easter dinner at a local soul food restaurant. The dinner and the family atmosphere was something special for all of us.

We just can't wait to put all this great video together and share it with everybody!

That's all for now. As always, thanks for supporting "Killer B3." A big thanks to Pastor Mike and everyone else at Norwood Community Church in St. Petersburg, Florida. Greetings B3 Fans,

We have a lot of exciting things happening with "Killer B3." Joe and I just spent five days in New York City getting close with one of the Hammond B3's greatest legends, Jimmy McGriff.

It was a life changing trip for everyone. We not only had an opportunity to get some great elements for the documentary, but we really got a chance to know Jimmy McGriff a lot better.

While Jimmy has some health issues, he still finds the strength to wiggle his fingers on the B3. His wife says anytime Jimmy performs at a show it helps his spirit. She told me it gives him something to look forward to even though he can't play like he used to.

Our trip to New York also brought us together with Dr. Lonnie Smith. Dr. Lonnie is one of the most expressive musicians to film and most thought provoking people to talk to. Dr. Lonnie was gracious
enough to take a picture with me right after one of the late shows. I found out Dr. Lonnie is a big fan of comedy. Since I am also a stand-up comedian, I'm sending Dr. Lonnie my live comedy CD.
I hope he likes it.

Hammond B3 player Shawn Brown and saxophone player Mike McAuther also made the trip to New York. They even got a chance to jam on the same stage as Jimmy McGriff, Dr. Lonnie and Rubin Wilson. It was a night full of amazing performances. You get a chance to check it out in the documentary.

We found a little time to hang out and get to know the Big Apple. I could have taken a job at a top television station in New York about 10 years ago. I've always wondered if passing up that gig was the right decision. After being in New York for just a few hours I realized some of why I didn't take the job.

While I love the culture and the great things that go on in New York, I had a tough time dealing with the cold weather. I had an even tougher time getting used to waiving down a taxi cab. अत times I felt like I was hitch hiking! We did learn after a day or two that living in New York is all about finding that place or space where you're comfortable. We did find a few places that were really cool.

Anyway, we're getting ready to get heavy into logging the 150 or so hours of tape we've shot for "Killer B3". It wont be fun, it wont be pretty, but it's got to be done and it will be worth it!
Our apologies to those of you who have been trying to find this blog for the past few days. For some reason the blog just disappeared and it's taken a day or two to figure out the problem. We've also lost the ability to post photos on the blog for the time being.

If you love music and are inspired by those connected to it, you'll love "Killer B3." "Killer B3" is a documentary film about one of the most complicated instruments in the world, the Hammond B3 Organ. This film introduces you to many influential and accomplished Hammond B3 musicians. Also, a look behind the scenes at the amazing technology used to create the Hammond B3 and the story of an aging and literally dying breed of B3 players makes "Killer B3" a must see project that is long overdue.

Joe Bamford and I (Murv Seymour) have been documenting the history and future of the Hammond B3 Organ for more than two years. Joe has over 15 years of experience as a videographer and editor and I have a 20 year background as a television reporter. We have an unstoppable passion to tell the story of the Hammond B3 and the people that breath life into this one of a kind organ.

From its name, you probably know nothing about the Hammond B3 Organ. But once you hear its screaming sound or see its unique table like legs, you'll never forget it. The sound of the Hammond B3 Organ can be subtle or strong and is present in gospel, blues, jazz, rock, reggae, soap operas, and many other styles of music.

Who's in "Killer B3" you ask? We're still in production, but so far we've received input from Jimmy McGriff, Jimmy Smith, Jr., Dr. Lonnie Smith, Brian Auger, Tony Monaco, Reuben Wilson, Shawn Brown, and the list is growing.

We're in the early stages of putting the word out about "Killer B3." We definitely need the support of all Hammond B3 fans and music lovers. We're new to blogging, but are going to try and keep everyone informed about the progress of this great project.

We do have a website www.killerb3.com but as of 3/10/07 it is still under construction. In the meantime check out our youtube channel @ www.youtube.com/killlerb3themovie. Like Killer B3 on Facebook
